How Does A Web-Fed Press Work?
Web printing is the process that feeds a roll of paper through a set of rollers. The rollers, with printing plates attached to them, contain an image or text that is transferred to a rubber roller, then onto paper with use of ink dots. The printing plate separates image and non-image areas around the principles that water and oil do not mix. Each ink dot is one of four colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK) – making up all possible colors. By traveling through the press from roller to roller, a full color image is created. This type of printing is used for the printing of newspapers, retail inserts, magazines, and other large print runs.
